Stuart E. Fitts, 83, of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at Regional West Medical Center, Scottsbluff. The funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at First Church of God with Pastor Guy Walton and Rodney Fitts officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Monday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel, Scottsbluff. Stuart was born July 20, 1922, in rural Scottsbluff to Harry W. and Blanche (Robinson) Fitts. He grew up near Minatare and graduated from the Minatare High School. On August 11, 1944, he married Mildred Parmenter, at First Church of God, Scottsbluff. They farmed east of Gering in the Creighton Valley for over 50 years. Stuart also worked several years part-time at Platte Valley Livestock. In the summer of 2002 they moved to Scottsbluff. Stuart enjoyed many activities with his family, including reading, gardening, playing baseball, hiking, and hunting. He was a life-time member of the First Church of God where he taught Sunday School, led the Youth Group, and served on the church board. He was active with his children in 4-H and closely followed his children and grand children in their sports activities. More recently, he volunteered numerous hours at the Farm and Ranch Museum in Gering. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; six children, Valerie (Allen) Wilder of Scottsbluff, Vicki (Loren) Faaborg of Sun City West, Arizona, Vance (Debi) Fitts of Gering; Cheryl (Ricky) Dean of Leighton, Iowa, Rodney (Cindy) Fitts of Brandon, South Dakota and Sandra (Todd) Gildemaster of Rapid City, South Dakota; 30 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Yvonne) Fitts of Scottsbluff; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Brown.
