

Her memorial graveside will be held on Monday, October 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bayard Cemetery with Pastor Tom Smith officiating. At her request, cremation was held. A memorial has been established in her name, donations will go towards creating a registry for the Bayard Cemetery. Tributes of sympathy and memories may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Tery was born on February 3, 1955 in Bridgeport, Nebraska to George and Pauline (Nuss) Smith. She received her early education in District #73 Country School, graduating from Bayard High School in 1973.
She married Gary Wolverton on June 5, 1976 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Bayard, Nebraska and made their home in Bayard.
Tery held numerous jobs over the years. She worked at Gambles, Puregrow, Western Sugar, hauled sugar beets and more all before taking on her favorite job of being a homemaker while raising her two boys and taking care of her husband. Later in life she worked at the Bayard Cemetery helping with grounds and landscaping. Tery had a heart of gold and never new a stranger. She made friends wherever she went, whether it be in South Dakota where she and Gary traveled frequently, or at the grocery store, gas station, bank and the list goes on and on. Her personality and laugh were contagious and you couldn’t help but to have a happy heart when you were with her. She loved gardening, keno, cooking and was an expert of everything hunters brought home. She loved her family more than anything and they loved her. She will be missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband Gary; sons Travis Wolverton (Shannon Brunz) and Kevin (Valerie) Wolverton; brother Jerry (Deb) Smith; granddaughters Mia Wolverton, Madison Contreras and Jenna Wolverton and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jimmy Smith and nephew Jim Smith.
