

Vera Hessler, 84, long time resident of Scottsbluff, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Friends who wish may call Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel, Tuesday, November 15, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials in her name may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice. Vera was born on September 21, 1927, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Phillip and Margaret (Bauer) Ott. She grew up in Scottsbluff, NE receiving her education in the Scottsbluff schools. Vera was united in marriage to Edward Hessler on December 1, 1946, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and together they raised five children. She retired as manager from the More-Value Stamp Center after 16 years, was a member of Zion Evangelical Church, and VFW Auxiliary. She loved having coffee with friends and cheering on her favorite sports teams including the Rockies, Broncos, and Cornhuskers. Baking was her specialty, especially her pies. She was a loving selfless woman, who never knew a stranger. She was always there for her family and friends and continuously had a big smile to go along with a friendly wave from her front steps on Avenue B. The memories she has left us with will always bring joy and comfort. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; daughter Elizabeth (Kevin) Shoemaker, Superior, CO; sons Edward Hessler, Michael Hessler, Dave (Pam) Hessler and Robert (Peggy) Hessler all of Scottsbluff. Grandchildren Scott (Wendi) Hessler, Severance, CO, Christina (Bryn) Tejral, Salina, KS, Heidi (Nate) Shaddick, Lincoln, NE, Matthew (Sarah) Hessler, Scottsbluff, NE, Amber (JR) Rocha, Omaha, NE, Steve (Jessica) Hessler, Scottsbluff, NE, Deven (Addy) Hessler, Monument, CO, Halee (Greg) Brown, Gering, NE, Brock (Allison Nye) Hessler, Omaha, NE, Danielle (Jon) Darnell, Scottsbluff, NE, Mackenzie Shoemaker, Denver, CO., and 21 great grandchildren. Preceding Vera in death were her parents, sister Katherine Drapcak; brothers John, Victor, Jake and Jim Ott.
