Vi was born on Christmas Day December 25, 1925 near Melbeta, Nebraska to Emil and Mary (Harding) Nab. She lived in the area all her life and attended various rural schools when she was growing up. She married Harold (Mick) Keller on January 31, 1950 at Cheyenne, Wyoming. They worked and farmed together on various farms until they bought their own farm in the Minatare area in 1963. Violet worked at the Eagle Café and later on worked for Lichter-Duo-Rest in Scottsbluff.
The greatest joy of her life was her family and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she and Harold loved to go see often. She was a good cook and would often have holiday dinners with all the German goodies, like butterball and noodle soup, coffee cakes and cabbage burgers. She also liked to cook for German weddings or any special request the family was hungry for at the time. You were always welcome in her home. She also liked to work in her garden and yard. She loved canning all the garden produce so we had special treats in the wintertime. She often traded flowers with her aunt so she always had a beautiful yard with blooms all summer long!
Vi was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff and a long time member of the ACME Club in the Minatare area. Mom will be dearly missed by many people that knew her and especially by her loving family and friends.
Vi is survived by her children Calvin Keller (Diane Morehead) of Longmont, CO and Gloria (Jack) Rein of Mitchell; five grandchildren Shelly (Patrick) Perkins of Lyman, NE, Aaron (Melissa) Rein of Mitchell, NE, Bryan (Alisa) Keller of Cheyenne, WY, Leslie Hodge of Denver, CO, and Jeremy Rein of Mitchell, NE; seven great-grandchildren Lekili and Braylon Hodge of Denver, CO, Jersey and Lexi Keller of Cheyenne, WY, and Keaton, Kadin, and Keelie Rein of Mitchell; sister Betty Metz of Gering; sisters-in-law Wilma Reizenstein of Washington and Donna Keller of Scottsbluff; nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Harold, a grandson Ryan Keller, sisters Norma Schwab and Donna Dermer, brothers Don Nab, and Robert Nab, and half-brother Rodney Nab.
We all love you and are going to miss you dearly Mom.
