

Vonda “Pete” Richardson, 88, of Bayard, passed away on June 16, 2016 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. At his request, cremation has taken place. Burial will be at Bayard Cemetery at a later date. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Pete was born on December 30, 1927 to Bitz and Icie Ida (Turner) Richardson in Brookland, Arkansas. His ancestry goes back to the Trail of Tears,
Pete was an Army Veteran, and was wounded twice during the Korean War. The Army sent his father a letter saying Pete was Missing In Action. Pete was MIA as a Prisoner of War, and upon being liberated and returned to the United States in 1953. He received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Pete was a corporal when he left the service; Corporal Vonda Richardson, United States Marine. He was also a demolition expert. In the Marines he was a demolition instructor.
Pete is survived by two brothers, Joe (Phyllis) of Calhoun, MO., and Sonny (Martha) of Olathe, KS.; sister Oma Richardson of Liberty, MO.; best friend Jan Pruitt of Bayard; sisters-in-law Bonnie Laub and Joyce Peterson; brother-in-law Raymond “Bud” Driscoll, several nieces and nephews and close friend Jan Pruitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Ruby; four brothers, James, Eugene, Bud, and Cotton; sister Letha Goodrich; and brother-in-law Donald Driscoll.
