Walter Abel

Walter Abel,87, of Scottsbluff passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 9:00 AM at the Dugan Kramer Funeral Home with the funeral services following at 11:00 AM with Pastor Matt Hebbert officiating. Walter was born August 15, 1929 in Bayard, Nebraska to Jacob and Katherine (Reifschneider) Abel. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Evangelical Church in Bayard. Walter received his schooling in Bayard, Gering, and at WNCC in Scottsbluff. Walter served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for six and a half years. After his military service, he was employed in the furniture business for approximately 45 years. He also worked for the Scotts Bluff County Handi-Bus for 10 years.

Walter was united in marriage to Elsie May Feil on February 18, 1950 and to this union, two sons were born, Steven Abel and Kevin Abel. Walter was a member of Salem Congregational Church and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #10, both in Scottsbluff, NE.

Survivors include; granddaughter Melissa (Robert) Price and his most precious great grandsons Robert Montgomery Price IV, Kevin Eugene Price, Aaron Richard Price, all of Scottsbluff, and grandson Ryan Reynoldson of Wheatland, WY. He is also survived by his special friends Janet Schmidt, Mary Ann Peterson, and Fred Marquez.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elsie May, sons Steven and Kevin; sisters Minnie (David) Langhofer, Emma (Alec) Hass, Lydia (Harold) Tripple, Kathryn (Robert) Kugler, Leona (Don) Thayer; and brothers Robert (Pauline) Abel, Victor (Leah) Abel, and Jake(Alma) Abel.
