Walter A. Relka

Walter A. Relka, 80 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. His memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 19, 2009, Salem Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Make A Wish Foundation or donor’s choice. Walter was born on March 21, 1929 in Mitchell, Nebraska to Adam and Mary (Sieb) Relka. He farmed with his father. He moved to Scottsbluff in 1957. Walter worked for Ramsey Feed. Later he worked at Schafer Elevator for 26 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement he worked on the farm for other farmers until ill health forced him to be at home. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was united in marriage to Gloria L. Keller on August 8, 1948. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Relka; daughter, Linda (Jerry) Todd of Scottsbluff; son, Dave Relka of Scottsbluff; two sisters, Bettie (Elwood) Vogel and Helen Steinmark both of Scottsbluff; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
