

William “Bill” Lewis McLaughlin, 71, of Lyman, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his home. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ed Hunzeker officiating. Interment with military honors by the Nebraska Army National Guard will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book from 8:30 AM until the service time on Monday at Dugan-Kramer. Memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project. Bill was born September 14, 1943 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska the youngest child of William C. and Hazel Jane (Prentice) McLaughlin. He received his education in Lyman and worked for the Ford Motor Company in Denver test driving vehicles following high school. He was drafted in the United States Army on May 23, 1968 and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict until his honorable discharge on February 26, 1976. He returned to the Lyman area following his discharge. His lifetime career with Western Gas Company as a field supervisor took him to Gillette, WY, then Green River, WY and finally Rock Springs, WY. After his retirement he returned to Lyman.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and was very good at building things. He will be missed for his stories, sense of humor, and his laugh. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Bill is survived by his daughter DeeDee McLaughlin of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandson Myka Lee of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother Jack McLaughlin of Lyman; sister Lorraine Thorne of Gillette, WY; nieces, nephews, extended family members and his fur baby Abby.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother Raymond McLaughlin.
