William Edward Gregory

Bill Gregory of Scottsbluff, NE entered the presence of His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday January 24, 2017. Visitation will be at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home on Friday January, 27 from 1-7 pm. His Celebration of Life will be at Monument Bible Church 4124 Ave I Saturday at 10:00 a.m with Pastor Jake Roberts and Pastor Wayne Mundell officiating. A memorial has been established to the family. Bill was born September 6, 1950 in Cambridge NE. The family moved several times throughout his childhood, but ultimately ended up back in Cambridge where he graduated from High School in 1968. He joined the Navy and served with the Sea Bees from January 1969 to December 1973. He served honorably in Vietnam, Guam, Okinawa, and Spain. Though he was in the Navy he delighted in recounting that he was never on a ship.

Bill married the love of his life, Elsie, on August 8, 1969. They made their home in the Gering/Scottsbluff area following his release from military service. He worked several jobs until he found his passion in the insurance industry. January 1, 1976 he joined Lincoln/Overman and Assoc. later forming Gregory’s Insurance Services where he faithfully served his clients for 41 years.

Bill was a doer, not being able to sit still for long. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling with his wife, woodworking, and classic cars. He was an active member of High Plains Auto Club. Above all that he loved his LORD and faithfully attended Monument Bible Church. His favorite activity was time spent with his grandchildren sharing with them his love of Yellowstone National Park.

Survivors include: his wife Elsie; daughter Angela (Dan) Kress of Parker, CO; grandchildren: William (Katie) Gregory of Scottsbluff; Kaycie Sterling of Sioux Falls SD; Geoffrey Kress and Morgan Kress; daughter-in-law Camille Gregory of Beresford, SD; great-grandchildren Layne, Mordecai and Vanille; mother Delores Smalley of Scottsbluff; brothers Dennis (Sharon) and Gordon of Scottsbluff; sisters Barbara Griesman of Albion NE; and Vickie Clark of Rapid City SD; sisters-in-law Shirley Gregory of Ft. Morgan CO; Eileen (Jeff) Gorley of North Platte, NE; brother-in-law Aaron (Eileen) Duysen of Colorado Springs, CO. Numerous nieces, nephews, beloved cousins and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents; father Kenneth Gregory; step-father, Leonard Smalley; step-mother, Iona Gregory; son, Robert; brothers, Steve and Tim.
