Barbara Lee Carbaugh of Terrell, Texas, passed away on June 20, 2026, in Kaufman, Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, mamaw, friend, and colleague by all who knew and loved her. Born on November 21, 1945, in Clarksville, Texas, Barbara was the daughter of Harvey and Georgia Brown.
Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love through her brother, John Brown; her children, Michael and Shannon Carbaugh, Mona and Craig Lloyd, and Larry and Chasatee Carbaugh; her grandchildren, Michael Shawn, Mikaela, Alli (Peter), Megan (Dominic), Grant, Hailey, Morgan, Carter, and Landree; and her great-grandchildren, Lyla and Knox.
Barbara lived a life marked by faith, service, and a genuine love for others. Her relationship with the Lord shaped the way she cared for people and invested in their lives. Through her years of ministry in children's church and Christian education, she helped nurture the faith of countless young people, leaving an impact that will continue for generations. Whether in the classroom, at church, or through a simple word of encouragement, Barbara had a unique ability to make people feel valued and loved. She also faithfully served others as a laboratory technician, working in hospitals and medical laboratories where her skill, compassion, and dedication provided care and support to those during some of life's most difficult moments. Barbara's life was a testimony to the difference one person can make when they choose to serve God and love others well.
Outside of her work and ministry, Barbara found great joy in creating things with her hands. She was an avid crafter who expressed her love for others through beautifully made quilts, handmade cards, and crocheted gifts. Many in the community came to know Barbara through her famous crocheted dish scrubbies, which became a signature expression of her generosity and thoughtfulness. Whether she was stitching a quilt, crafting a card, or crocheting a gift, Barbara had a way of turning simple materials into tangible reminders of love, kindness, and care. Her creativity, servant's heart, and personal touch will be remembered by all who were blessed to receive something she made.
A Celebration of Life service for Barbara will be held on Saturday, June 27, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Edom, 9714 FM 314 Edom, TX. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as we gather to celebrate Barbara's life, faith, and the lasting impact she made on those around her.

These memories are a precious gift to the family and an important part of the journey of grief, remembrance, and healing. As we reflect together on Barbara's life, may we find comfort in the legacy of faith, love, and service that she leaves behind.
