Earlier in life, Barbara attended school to become a Nurse’s Aide. After several years of caring for and helping others, Barbara became a homemaker and devoted her life to her family. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and spending time with the people she loved. Barbara enjoyed bingo, bowling, and trips to the casino. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing games, laughing, and making memories with them. She was also a participating member of the American Legion.
Barbara was the matriarch of her family, a position she carried with love, strength, and devotion. She was the heart of her family and a constant source of love, encouragement, and wisdom. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she took great pride in watching her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren grow. She brought generations of her family together and created a legacy of love that will continue long after her passing. Though she may have been small in stature, she was truly a small but mighty woman whose presence made a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Barbara is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Friday; her parents, Vivian and Carl Allen; her daughters, Carla Friday, Geraldine Willard, and Mary Mollenhauer; her grandchildren, Shawna LeeAnn Johnson and Christian Jewel Holmes; her siblings, Ed Allen, Steve Allen, Freddy Allen, Ricky Allen, and Vickie Crabtree; her sons-in-law, Doug Johnson and Rick McKee; as well as many other beloved family members and loved ones.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Brenda Milton (Johnny), Gwen McKee, Jessie McTigue (Bruce), and Barbie Holmes (West); her brother, Lawrence Allen; and Jerry Friday, who was like a son to her. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Angela Block (Tony), Douglas Johnson (Melissa), (Stacy Johnson), Amanda Smythe (Richard), Cody Mollenhauer, Michael McKee, Brandy Attaway, Manuel Chavez (Karisa), Jessica Woodall, Nathaniel Friday, Havannah Holmes, Cody Hamilton (Brittany), James McTigue (Cathy), Cole Hamilton (Amber), Amanda Fedric, Eli Milton, Crystal Milton, and Johnny Ray Milton (Vicky); along with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Though Barbara’s earthly journey has come to an end, her love and legacy will continue through the family she loved so dearly. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. “Her children arise and call her blessed.” — Proverbs 31:28
