Benjamin Andrew Godfrey bounded into this world and into the arms of his parents, Donald and Jane Godfrey August 21st, 1991. After a lengthy battle with mental illness, Ben sought respite in the arms of Our Father and Savior Saturday, August 13th, 2022. He will always be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend to all that knew and loved him.
Ben is survived by his daughter, Estela Godfrey-Santillan, his mother and father Jane and Don Godfrey, his sister Jana Hale Trousdale, along with her husband Russell and son John Walker Trousdale. He was loved by his aunts and uncles: David and Lori Godfrey, Kenneth “Woody” Godfrey (deceased), S. Michael and Harriet Sexton, Frances and Bryan Rahm, David and Donna-Maria Sexton, Steve Sexton and Julie Sexton (deceased). He will also be remembered fondly by his many cousins.
Ben is also survived by his circle of friends whom he loved in his heart as family. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Wanda “Momo” Godfrey, Anne Elizabeth and Sidney Sexton, his Aunt Julie “Aunt Jules” Sexton, and Uncle Kenneth Woodrow “Woody” Godfrey. Please know that he loved and cherished all of you beyond measure.
Ben was proactive in his care and tried to live each day to the best of his ability. He looked forward and enjoyed the time he spent with his sweet little girl Estela. Ben loved visiting and enjoying coffee with his grandparents and reaching out to his friends and family via telephone calls, texts, or visits. Ben worked alongside his father, Uncle Mike, and other family members renovating Grandma and Papa’s house to prepare the home to go on the market. He traveled and assisted his father in his business. Ben also had his own backflow inspection business. He had the best day of fishing with his Uncle Bryan on the day of his passing. We are hoping his family, friends and fellow Scouts will remember the good times.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 27th to celebrate Ben’s life at Church In The City, 6005 Dalrock Road, Rowlett, Texas at 10 am.
We would like to thank our family and friends who assisted and have given us strength during this difficult time. We are comforted in knowing our son is reunited with family in heaven and we will see him again.
If you are inclined, in lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Seagoville Animal Shelter, the SPCA of North Texas, or a charity of your choice. Ben adopted our beloved beagle named Tiger from the Seagoville Animal Shelter.
