Daniel Grant Thornton, 55, passed away on September 19, 2016 in Dallas, TX. He was born on April 8, 1961 to Jeremiah and Janet Thornton in Gardiner, Maine. Daniel grew up in North Whitefield, Maine and moved to Texas in 1978. He was employed at Venture Mechanical for 14 years as an HVAC Superintendent and was a true asset to the company. Daniel was also a handyman by trade and could build or weld anything, from bbq smokers to a playhouse for his grandchildren. He was a very hard-working man and took great pleasure in helping others. One of his favorite things to do was to grill and host family gatherings; he didn’t hesitate to “make up” a holiday just to get all of his family together. Daniel loved the annual vacations that he and Debbie would take to celebrate their anniversary and he also loved the family vacations where, along with the kids and grandkids, they could all be together. Daniel fought a hard battle with leukemia and his family is grateful to God for the additional 3 ½ years that they were able to spend with him. In his last days, Daniel accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and expressed that he wanted those who loved him to do the same. Daniel is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Elvin Seigler. Daniel is survived by his wife of 34 years, Debra Thornton, son, Doug Spence and wife Darla; daughter, Amber Graham and husband Eric; daughter, Danielle Thornton, and future son-in-law, Naser Hammad; grandchildren, Dakota Stroud, Alyssa Spence, Brittnie Stroud, Riley Spence, Braylee Graham, Danica Graham, Zade Hammad; parents, Jeremiah and Janet Thornton; mother-in-law, Mary Siegler; brothers, David Thornton and wife Connie; Samuel Thornton and wife Donna; Benjamin Thornton and wife Belinda; sister, Rebecca Cantrell and husband Keith; sister-in-law, Duchess Peters and husband Claude; brother-in-law, Harold Hinkle and wife Barbara; brother-in-law Fred Hinkle, brother-in-law, Robin Seigler and wife Charlotte, brother-in-law, Carl Hinkle and wife Mary; sister-in-law, Pamela Singleton and husband Kim along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, honorary family members and friends.
