She was born to Walter Bud Wells and Lila Faver Wells, the sixth of seven children born to them. She outlived all of her siblings by several years.
In 1957, she married Wayne Eastep, her high school sweetheart. In fact, she was still in high school when they were married. In January of this year, they celebrated 64 years of a happy married life.
She graduated from Crandall High School in 1959, at the age of 18. She took some college courses at El Centro College and at Eastfield College. She spent much of her working life as a secretary, much of that time with DISD, in the legal department (the Dallas Independent School District). She loved to cook, and was masterful at that fine art. Many from far & wide raved about her fine cooking. She was also a published poet, just like her maternal grandmother, Molly Faver, as well as a fine artist.
She was a longtime member of the Mabank Church of Christ for the last 19 years of her life. Her husband, Wayne Eastep, served as an Elder at that congregation for over 15 years, until just last September. Before that, she had been a church member at Seagoville Church of Christ for many years.
She is survived by three children – Johnny and his wife Robin, Donna Ritchie, and Molly Newton and her husband Ricky. There are seven grandchildren – Casey Daugherty, Jessica Davis, Nick Wilkinson, Rachel Weed, Sierra Gonzalez, Lauren Amburgey, and Nathan Eastep. And there are 13 great grandchildren, with one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Wayne Eastep, not even one month earlier; by her parents, Walter & Lila Wells; and by all six of her siblings.
She is also survived by a host of dear friends, extended family, and church family, who all loved her deeply. And we all hope to see her again in Heaven.
A graveside service for Eleanor will be held Monday, March 1, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Crandall Cemetery, 102 Trinity Rd., Crandall, TX 75114.
