Dear Zeke, I have so many memories of our times together. One of the most memorable is when we would all go to Lousiana Downs,,,,we would be in the green station wagon. Your driving always scared me to death. I just knew we were gonna get shot one day... for example,,,,we were trying to get a parking space at the track, you seen a spot but so did the other guy in another vehicle. So, without hesitation you zoomed around the guys car and took the spot. You got out as if nothing happened. Then we went in and lost our money. Hahaha.
You are in a safe place now. Be at peace, no pain no stress and no worries. 💕

Uncle Zeke. I love you and miss you so very much. You were a wonderful Man and a wonderful uncle. I loved spending time with you as a child. I had some many good times with you and my cousin Tanya. I was so excited when you taught me to work in your shop with you. It was so much fun. I didn't know what I was doing you were so very loving and patient teaching me. So glad I got to spend time with you. I will never forget your love and beautiful smile. Love always your neice (Suzy Q). Susan HammerLatimer.

The smell of bolts of fabric, green packs of Salem’s. Tractors, horses, pool tables and boats. Auction finds and pawn shop steals. Van zandt golfings , with stops at uncle bills. Trash bonfires at 2am, the 48 hour grind to get that cut out. Fried potatoes, steak while watching hbo boxing. Airamis cologne, vitalis hair oils. The once a year visit to Lubys and a movie before Christmas. Stray dogs, and the occasional stray person you were trying to help. Potted meat, vanilla blue bell. Charles Bronson, gene hackman, the duke. The things I remember. Me and Steven we’re getting played at the big town bowling lanes pool table by some older guy. We kept coming asking for money you just kept giving to us. After the third or forth time you asked where the money was going. Me and Steven finally admitted we had been getting hustled out of it. I’ll never forget,,,I was expecting you to be angry. Instead a small smirk came across your face as you strolled towards the pool tables. I was worried,,,especially when I hear you stumbling on your words, and acting,,,well timid which was so not you. “I wanna, play a game for money sir” After your first loss me and Steven begged you to leave. You then walked that man around a table so badly I’m not sure he touched the cue. Then You did it again. Then I saw your demeanor change. Standing an inch away from his face, and giving up at least half a foot on him. You began to threaten him, sayin you might wanna think twice before hustling kids and you might wanna know who’s kids you hustled. The fearful look on his face as he left spoke volumes. Me and Steven didn’t say a word the whole way home. You just smiled the whole way as if a duck just got put back in the water. I’m a large man with a sharp tounge, and I’ve never evoked such fear and respect from anyone like that. Some 30 years later it still impresses me.

Daddy! I miss you so much! My one memory that I have and that I will never forget is taking that trip to Louisiana on the motorcycle. It was a crazy trip. We had bugs hitting us in the face. We laughed so hard we even probably ate some bugs! Daddy I love you so much. You were my rock. I just don’t know what I’m going to do without you. I know your going to be up in heaven watching over me. I love you so much daddy! Love your little girl Tanya.

Zeke was more of a father to me than my own father. He raised me from a young lad and if it wasn’t for him, I would not be the man I am today. I will miss you so much. I know you are up in Heaven playing all those great golf courses that you were never able to play here on a Earth. Play on Unc. I’ll be there with you some day.
