Gaither was born on September 16, 1950, in Dallas, Texas to Gaither Endsley Sr. and Allene Ray Williams Endsley. He would be the oldest of three siblings and grew up in Dallas, TX. Gaither graduated from W.W. Samuel High School in 1969. After, he would attend classes at Navarro College before graduating with an associate degree from Eastfield Junior College.
In the summer of 1970, the Endsley kids had their friends over to the house where Gaither would meet the love of his life, Donna Abbott, a friend of his sister. As young men do, he attempted to woo her with a feat of strength, tearing phone books. And it must have worked because the two would begin going steady and later marry on June 9, 1972.
As a teenager, Gaither began working at All Right Parking as a lot attendant. He would continue his employment there through his schooling, being offered a management position once he obtained his degree. After over 2 decades with the company, he left to find other opportunities. He found himself at the Parking Company of America where he would continue his career through the turn of the new millennia. He briefly worked several jobs, including working at the Dallas-Love Field Airport, before beginning his second career working in the custodial department for first Dallas ISD and later Mesquite ISD until his retirement in 2020.
In his free time, his in-laws, Chuck and Betty Abbott, introduced Gaither to the Coast Guard Auxiliary of Cedar Creek Lake. He and Donna would both become members of Flotilla 514 and spent many weekends on the lake. Gaither also enjoyed spending time with his family, though it could be hard to tell by the look on his face.
Gather is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna Abbott Endsley; their children, Christina Cornell and husband Tony, and Dustin Endsley; grandchildren, Preston and Logan Cornell, Samantha and Sabrina Cornell, Colby and Leslie Endsley; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Gail Hudler and husband Dale, Kay Phillips and husband Doyle, along with many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family, Fred, the dog he inherited from Chuck, and the house cat, George.
Greeting him in Heaven were his loving parents, Gaither Sr. and Allene Endsley, his in-laws, Chuck and Betty Abbott, and his brother-in-law Stanley.
Gaither will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
A funeral service for Gaither will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159.
