

Gary Leon Lanier, age 80, of Cross Plains, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Gary was born in Combine, Texas on March 5, 1943, to parents, Porter and Lollie D. Lanier. He attended Seagoville High School and served in the American National Guard for 15 years. Gary had two children, and worked as a contractor, a dairyman, and a farmer at Lanier Construction.
In his spare time Gary enjoyed working on the farm with cows, pigs, sheep, and goats, as well as bow hunting.
His family and friends will always remember him as a cowboy. Gary loved the country and being outside.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Porter Kelley Lanier and Vivian Lollie D. Griffith; his grandson, Ashton Wayne Yates; and his brother, Darrell Kelley Lanier.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Kimberlee Yates of Van, Texas; son, Lucas Lanier (wife Brooke) of Cross Plains, Texas, and their children, Rhiannon and Evaleigh; granddaughter, Ashley Herrington (husband Jared) and their children, Ashtyn, Aiden, Jamison, and Juniper of Van, Texas, and granddaughter, Mattie Lacey (husband Ethan); sister, Sharron Lanier - Anderson of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Randy Lanier of Cross Plains, Texas, Shannon Lanier (wife Irene) of Kaufman, Texas, Barry Lanier (wife Jackie) of Abilene, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Gary will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S HWY 175, Seagoville, TX 75159.
