Jan Downey

Born on November 27, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, Jan was the daughter of Johnnie and Margaret Good. She was raised in Crandall, where she graduated from Crandall High School in 1966. Jan spent much of her professional life as a dedicated customer service representative in the insurance industry.

On August 21, 1988, Jan married the love of her life, Roy Downey, in a small, heartfelt ceremony in Las Vegas. Their nearly 37-year marriage was filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Jan and Roy shared a passion for travel, especially to the beach, and made an annual tradition of visiting Lake Whitney—a place Jan treasured for its peaceful, lakeside serenity.

Jan was a devoted member of the Crandall Church of Christ and remained active in her faith throughout her life. Above all, she found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Jan was welcomed into eternal rest by her parents, Johnnie and Margaret Good; her brother, Johnnie Good Jr.; and her sister, Jeanine Baker.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward with pride and affection: her husband, Roy Downey; her children, Brance Edward Irby Jr. and wife DeeDee, Britney Gayle Wade and husband Dicky, Keith Aaron Pippenger Sr., and Christopher Lyle Downey; her grandchildren, Brooklyn Irby, Hannah Wade, Brice Wade, Blake Wade, Aaron Pippenger, Jordan Pippenger, Jacob Pippenger, Sean Pippenger, Destiny Downey and Austin Dale; as well as eight great-grandchildren. Jan is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. Her celebration of life will take place on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Crandall Church of Christ, 209 S Main St, Crandall, TX 75114. A committal service will follow at 11:15 AM at Crandall Cemetery, 120 Trinity Rd, Crandall, TX 75114.
