Jerry D Pickard, was born in Dallas Texas February 2, 1937 to William Davis Pickard and Lucille Helen Hitt Pickard. He passed away at his home in Arlington, Texas on October 18, 2018 at the age of 81.
Following graduation from Seagoville High School, Jerry served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959 and was officially stationed in Germany. It is rumored he spent the majority of his time in undisclosed bases throughout North Africa.
He worked for over 30 years for Bell Helicopter as a Senior Technical Representative, and served as the Maintenance Analyst on the NASA/Army/Bell XV-15 prototype to the Osprey aircraft, which is now on display at the National Air and Space Museum.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed shooting competition with friends. Jerry belonged to the Irving Jaycees. He was the founding coach of the Irving Boys Football Association. Because of his strong belief “You should try out for football”, there were many successful player that benefited from his coaching beliefs. Jerry loved visiting with friends and family and never turned down the opportunity to attend a reunion.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Pat Hubener Pickard. Those left to cherish his memories are his children Dr. John Lance Pickard and wife Suzy; Dr. Jerry Vance Pickard and wife Kathy; Johnny Hubener and wife Patti; Dawn Wheeler and husband Don; Robert Hubener and wife Renee; 15 Grandchildren; 1 Great Granddaughter; Sisters Marsha James and Karen Stilwell; numerous Cousins and a host of other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, Texas 75159. The Celebration of Life Service is Wednesday October 24, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn followed with the committal service at Crandall Cemetery.
