Jimmie Witherspoon

Jimmie Witherspoon, 75, of Crandall, TX, passed away on November 15, 2023 at home. He will always be remembered as a loving Pawpaw, devoted husband, friend, and a proud Vietnam veteran, (a double Purple Heart Recipient). He was born on September 3, 1948, in Hope, Arkansas to Alvin Witherspoon and Billie Cartwright.

Jimmie was an avid deer hunter, loved all things to do with being outdoors, and enjoyed his daily phone calls with his daughter, Leigh Anne.

Jimmie is survived by his wife, Nina of the home; daughters, Leigh Anne and Dwayne Lewis of Sweetwater, TX, Paula and Clint Gurley of Overton, TX, Sandra Houston of Scurry, TX, Machelle and Nathan Forester of Cherry Valley, Arkansas; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Jeffrey Cartwright of Canton, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jerry, and Jackie, his sister Karen, his son, Henry Helfers Jr, and grandsons Brandon and Christopher Gurley.

A visitation for Jimmie will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Central Baptist Church, 1749 FM148, Crandall, TX 75114. A committal service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 1000 S Hwy 175, Seagoville, TX 75159.
