

A proud Marine, Jimmy served during the Vietnam War before joining the reserves. His commitment to service continued as a Deputy Sheriff for Dallas County, in the Fugitive Section traveling all over the country, where he served for 31 years. He was a respected member of the color guard for the Sheriff's department and was honored with the Bill Decker Deputy plaque, recognizing his outstanding contributions.
Beyond his professional life, Jimmy was a devoted family man, survived by his wife of 30 years, Shirley Peoples; his daughter, Julie Bartley; his son, Jonathan Peoples; step-son, Stephen Locklear; step-daughters, Stacie Garrett and Jena Mullican; along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Clifton Peoples.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josie Yow and William Peoples, his son Jason Peoples, two brothers Floyd and Edward Peoples, and sisters Glenda and Cora.
Jimmy's passions included model building, camping, and tending to his garden. He cherished these activities as they allowed him precious moments of peace and creativity. His happiest times were spent surrounded by his family and his beloved animal companions, reflecting his deep capacity for love and care.
Jimmy's legacy of dedication, both to his family and to his community, will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. His life was a testament to the values he held dear: The Lord, service, family, and commitment.
