Judy Ann "Mimi" Pate of Talty, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the young age of 73. Mimi was born October 17, 1947 in Kaufman, Texas. When she was about 5 years old her family moved to Dallas, TX where she was raised by her parents Ethel "Bits" and Edward "Snooks" Dykes.
As a young lady she enjoyed living close to aunts, uncles and cousins. Judy would often walk down Fireside or the railroad tracks (with her sister Jan toddling not far behind) to see her cousins and play or visit the corner store to get chips, sodas, and candy.
She attended Rylie Jr. High School, where she participated in the drill team, followed by Spruce High School and later went on to study at Eastfield College. Judy worked at the City of Dallas, for many years and eventually retired from there.
She treasured the time spent over the last 24 years with her devoted and attentive husband, Harvey “Grumps” Pate, whom recently predeceased her. Judy and Harvey spent time traveling, adventuring and most of all eating with neighbors and friends, most of which were like family.
Her true passion was her family, food - cooking and eating, and expressing her design creativity- Be it interior or floral or anything in between, if something could be prettier or fancier or more colorful, she could make it happen. One of her proudest achievements was owning her own restaurant and wedding event company with her best friend of many years, Debbie Ramsey.
Judy also loved to shop, she loved birds and gardening. Those who knew and loved her would describe her as a creative, friendly, giving person who always had a beautiful smile on her face. She was an excellent planner, cook, and gardener.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Julianne Inman and husband Dan, Son, Lee Shelton and wife Cindy; Step-son, Tyson Lee Pate. grandchildren, Bryan Faber and Wife Brittany, Jennifer Faber, Justin Shelton, Brittney Shelton, Grace Pate, Libby Pate, Lily Pate, and Gus Pate, 3 great grandchildren, Skyler, Anthony and Canyon.
