

Ken is survived by his wife Mary; daughters Lori Yarbrough (Larry) of Grand Prairie, Texas and Lisa Maples of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; step daughter Kim Asplin (Tom) and their children Virginia (Daniel) and Victoria, and Virginia’s son, Alexander and many other family members and beloved friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his half-brothers Randal and Marcus and a half-sister.
Ken was born on April 8th, 1942 in Quitman, Wood County, Texas to Joel and Myrtle Rue Gilbreath. He graduated from Quitman High School in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra Brewer in 1961. The couple moved to Irving, Texas and welcomed two daughters who remember him as a loving, kind, gentle, patient father.
Ken was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a former member of the Irving Board of Realtors and a former Realtor of the Year. He was also a very active and dedicated member of Irving Licensed Childcare Association and at one time owned three childcare facilities including “My Kids Place”.
After moving to Grand Prairie, he married his wife Mary in 2003 and moved to Mesquite. Before retiring he worked with Sunbeam Foods assisting child care centers with the Special Nutrition Programs for the State of Texas.
A visitation for Kenneth will be held Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. A funeral service will occur Monday, December 23, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159. A committal service will occur Monday, December 23, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM, Rock Hill Cemetery, CR 1477 & FM 515, Quitman, Texas 75783.
