Leonor was born to Saturnino, Sr., and Juanita Sandoval on July 25, 1938, in Rio Hondo, Texas. She spent much of her early years in Port Isabel, Texas. She later married the late Enrique Arriola, Sr., and moved to Dallas, Texas, before buying their home in Mesquite, Texas, where they raised their family. After many years of hard work, Leonor and Enrique purchased a home with a shop in Seagoville, Texas.
A true example of strength and dedication, Leonor worked tirelessly throughout her life. She worked at an icehouse packing shrimp at a young age, as a florist, and cleaning homes to provide for her family. She also devoted many hours helping her late husband with his dump trucks and shop.
Leonor was known for her strong work ethic, caring heart, and friendly spirit. She found joy in watching her favorite television soap operas, working puzzles, dancing to her favorite mariachi music, and caring for her chickens. Above all, she cherished her family and friends.
Leonor is survived by her children: Viviana (Creg) Cole, Joe (Cindy) Arriola, José (Terri) Arriola, and Manuel (Alejandra) Arriola; her brother, José (Martha) Sandoval; and her sisters, Juanita Martinez, Dora Sandoval, and Marcela Marin. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeromie (Amy) Ryan, Leticia (Charlie) Carr, Clent (Brandie) Cole, Brandon Arriola, Amberlea Swafford, Devanne Arriola, José Arriola, Jr., Rachel (Jeremiah) Long, Talley (Daniel) Donati, Amber English, and Alejandra Sifuentes.
Leonor was blessed with a large and loving family that includes her great-grandchildren: Josh (Alex) Ryan, Ashlie (Forest) Rolfson, Lexie Ryan, Cameron Carr, Cayden Carr, Bryce Cole, Breana Cole, Lucus Cole, Henry Cole, Addyson Arriola, Conner Bayless, Tristian Rivera, Eli Barrios-Arriola, Alexander Arriola-Garza, Sebastian Arriola-Garza, Xavier Arriola-Garza, Rebekah Long, Samuel Henry Donati (soon to be born), Liyah Arriola, Camden Arriola, and Daniel English; as well as her great-great-grandchildren: Tegan Rolfson, Adam Rolfson, Blake Escamilla, Noah Rolfson, Riggins Ryan, and Riplee Ryan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Enrique Arriola, Sr.; her son, Enrique Arriola, Jr.; her grandchildren, Bo Cole and Aaron Maxwell; her parents, Saturnino Sandoval, Sr., and Juanita Sandoval; her brothers, Saturnino Sandoval, Jr., and Santiago Sandoval; and her sisters, Rosa Martinez, Maria Sandoval Uresti, and Guadalupe Sandoval.
Leonor will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love will remain in our hearts forever.
