The daughter of James Franklin Smith and Kizzie Ann Smith, she was born in Booneville, Mississippi. She was the youngest of 10, all of whom have long passed.
Always considered a good friend to those she knew, one of her best friends as a young woman was Dolores Clark. She remained close to Dolores (who passed in 2015), and to Dolores' husband John, who was the best friend of Louise's husband, Richard, who she met in Memphis, Tennessee. Louise and Richard married in 1960.
Louise worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Louise was blessed with four: Rhonda, David, Tina and Mark. Another blessing for Louise was the gift of eight grandchildren, Melody, Jennifer, Celeste, Elizabeth, Tiffany, Benjamin, Felicia, and Devin; and 13 great-grandchildren, Xander, Caleb, Micah, Nyle, Joseph, Joshua, Neva, Leighton, Emma Jane, Declan, Judah, Silas, and another on the way.
Louise enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were sewing, quilting, travel and most importantly, Bible study. Louise’s Christian faith was important to her, and she often accompanied Richard as he ministered in nursing homes and prisons. She was a member at Kaufman County Christian Center.
Louise passed away on March 18, 2017, at her daughter Tina's house in Scurry, Texas, at age 85.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, their children Rhonda Peterson; David Lowry and his wife Christine; Tina Eaton and her husband Jon; and Mark Lowry; plus all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Louise was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Louise leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Louise S. Lowry.
Louise will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery in Seagoville, Texas.
