Maria Valdivia Jones

Born in la Purisima en el Municipio de San Juan de los Lagos Jalisco, Mexico, Maria lived a life marked by depth, beauty, and quiet strength. She was intelligent, witty, and deeply kind - her smile could light up a room. She had a rare gift for making people feel valued, understood, and deeply loved.

From an early age, Maria carried herself with discipline and purpose. She participated in the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) for three years during high school, where she was named ROTC Queen at the Military Ball - an honor that reflected both her grace and the respect she earned from those around her. She was also involved in orchestra, where she played the violin, reflecting both her structure and her creativity.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, Maria embraced her Mexican roots with pride, carrying her culture with her in the way she lived, connected, and loved. She continued her education at Tyler Junior College, where she earned an Associates of Arts in General Studies in 2007, and later in 2017 at Navarro College, where she earned her Associate of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) with a perfect 4.0 GPA - an achievement that reflected her intelligence, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Maria was a devoted polysomnography technician, and her work was a true reflection of who she was. She approached it with precision, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility, taking pride in doing things the right way and striving always for perfection. Beyond her profession, she was a creative soul - she loved to write, paint, and draw, expressing her inner world with honesty, depth, and quiet beauty.

She found joy in running 5k and 10k races, in the companionship of her cats, and in the comfort of podcasts - especially true crime, along with movies and television shows. Maria carried herself with elegance and grace, taking pride in her appearance and in the way she moved through the world. She valued order, beauty, and intention, and lived her life with a quiet sense of dignity and self-respect.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Reginald Jones; her parents, Martha Ramirez and Jorge Valdivia; her brother, Jorge Valdivia; her sister, Adriana Valdivia; her nephew, Sebastian Valdivia; and her niece, Nora Valdivia.

Maria was the light of our lives. Though cancer took much, it never took her love.

Her love remains - living within us, in all that we do and all we become - her lasting legacy.

Nacida en la Purisima en el Municipio de San Juan de los Lagos Jalisco, Mexico, Mari vivió una vida marcada por la profundidad, la belleza y una fuerza silenciosa. Era inteligente, ingeniosa y profundamente bondadosa; su sonrisa tenía el poder de iluminar cualquier lugar. Poseía un don poco común para hacer que las personas se sintieran valoradas, comprendidas y profundamente amadas.

Desde temprana edad, Mari se condujo con disciplina y propósito. Participó durante tres años en el programa de Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) en la preparatoria, donde fue nombrada Reina del ROTC en el Baile Militar, un honor que reflejaba tanto su elegancia como el respeto que se ganó de quienes la rodeaban. También formó parte de la orquesta, donde tocaba el violín, reflejando tanto su estructura como su creatividad.

Bilingüe en inglés y español, Mari llevó con orgullo sus raíces mexicanas, llevando su cultura en la forma en que vivía, se relacionaba y amaba. Continuó sus estudios en Tyler Junior College, donde obtuvo un Associate of Arts en Estudios Generales en 2007, y posteriormente en Navarro College, donde en 2017 obtuvo su Associate of Applied Science en Tecnología de Laboratorio Médico (MLT) con un promedio perfecto de 4.0, un logro que reflejó su inteligencia, dedicación y compromiso inquebrantable con la excelencia.

Mari fue una dedicada técnica en polisomnografía, y su trabajo era un verdadero reflejo de quién era. Lo desempeñaba con precisión, integridad y un profundo sentido de responsabilidad, enorgulleciéndose de hacer las cosas correctamente y esforzándose siempre por la perfección. Más allá de su profesión, era un alma creativa: le encantaba escribir, pintar y dibujar, expresando su mundo interior con honestidad, profundidad y una belleza serena.

Encontraba alegría en correr carreras de 5k y 10k, en la compañía de sus gatos y en el consuelo de los podcasts, especialmente de crimen real, así como en las películas y programas de televisión. Mari se distinguía por su elegancia y gracia, cuidando su apariencia y la forma en que se desenvolvía en el mundo. Valoraba el orden, la belleza y la intención, y vivió su vida con una silenciosa dignidad y un profundo respeto por sí misma.

Le sobreviven su amado esposo, Reginald Jones; sus padres, Martha Ramírez y Jorge Valdivia; su hermano, Jorge Valdivia; su hermana, Adriana Valdivia; su sobrino, Sebastián Valdivia; y su sobrina, Nora Valdivia.

Mari fue la luz de nuestras vidas. Aunque el cáncer arrebató mucho, nunca pudo arrebatar su amor.

Su amor permanece - viviendo en nosotros, en todo lo que hacemos y en todo lo que llegamos a ser - su legado eterno.
