Born June 30, 1932, in Groesbeck, Texas, to Ruthie Clancy Slaughter and Joseph Albert Slaughter. Martha joined a loving family that included 5 older sisters who, along with their mother, Ruthie, were a guiding influence in her life. Because her own mother was the oldest of 14 children, she and her sisters enjoyed growing-up near many cousins, aunts and uncles. She often talked about the Sunday dinners at her grandparents’ home when all 14 children, and their children, would gather for lunch. She transitioned to her Heavenly home on September 3, 2018, surrounded by loved ones.
Martha did secretarial work for a number of companies and ended her career with the Borden Dairy Company. She and her husband, Gene, enjoyed a long marriage raising their 4 children in Lubbock originally, and later in Dallas and Mesquite. Upon retirement, they built a home in Forney and enjoyed 15 years of country views, and many cherished trips with her sisters and brother in laws.
She is survived by her daughters: Marsha Crow and her husband Bob, Debbie Bluhm and her husband Dudley, Marilyn Middlebrooks and her husband Ed, and son Joe Clemo. She is also survived by her sister Mary Barnes, and 11 grandchildren: Christopher Burrow and wife Esther, Aaron Burrow and wife Teanill, Beth Wilkins and husband Kip, Sarah Rodriguez, Justin Clemo, Colby Garretson, Spencer Garretson, Elizabeth Crow, Thomas Crow, Clayton Bluhm and wife Brittani, Lauren McMullan and husband Mark, and Granddaughter-in-law Debra Clemo. Reunited in Heaven with husband Gene, and grandsons Luke Burrow and Josh Clemo. She is also blessed to be survived by 24 Great-Grandchildren: Jack¸ Addy, Sam, Sol, Layney, Bella, Eli, Leo, Annie, Lincoln, Henry and Dinah Burrow ; Braelynn Burrow; Xander and Naomi Bluhm; Leah McMullan; Lucy, Rud and Zeke Wilkins; Ruthie, Sophie, Luke and Silas Rodriguez; and Casey Clemo.
