She was born on December 16, 1931, in Barbourville, Kentucky, to the late Ezekiel Jones and Pearl (Jones) Walker.
Mary was one of six children and a proud graduate of Barboursville High School. She furthered her education at a secretarial school in Louisville, Kentucky.
A devoted Christian, Mary accepted Jesus Christ into her life at a young age. She raised her family with the same faith, instilling in them the values of love, kindness, and devotion to the Lord. Mary enjoyed singing Christian hymns, playing the guitar, reading her Bible, sewing, knitting, and traveling until her health no longer permitted.
In 1953, Mary married Wayne Wince Givans. Together, they were blessed with 12 children—one son and 11 daughters—and a growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children: Marie S. Miller, Janie C. Mansfield and husband Keith, Annette Hill and husband Chris, Debra L. Killman, Kathy L. Brakebill, Teresa Givans-Miller, Lisa S. Moore and husband Kevin, Regina G. Moore, Merrill Wayne Givans, Marilyn E. Givans-Elmore, and Vicky Fuller. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amber Hutchins, Heather Kelly, Mikel Smith, Mary Parada, David Brakebill, Matthew Brakebill, Jessica Fogle, Hannah Moore, Chance Moore, Blake Moore, Dustin Elmore, Connor Elmore, and Dillon Fuller; along with 26 great-grandchildren and many beloved extended family members and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 50 years, Wayne Givans; her daughter, Bonnie L. Sanders; her sons-in-law, Dale Miller, Don Killman, Terry Brakebill, and Rick Moore; her granddaughter, Lindsey Miller; her grandson, Jeremy Yoder; three brothers; two sisters; and other dear family members.
Though we have lost our precious mother, our hearts are comforted by the knowledge that heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
Until we meet again, Mom, we love you.
