Naomi Jewel Jones passed away peacefully on June 8, 2020 in Kemp Texas. Naomi was born in Roff Oklahoma to Elmer Addison Tabor and Carmen Rhodes on December 29, 1922. She has been a resident of Cedar Creek Lake for the past 57 years. Naomi assisted in the pharmacy at the VA Hospital in Dallas for 15 years and later on Naomi dedicated her life volunteering with the VA Hospital in Dallas, earning her many recognitions for her hard work and dedication. She was also a member of VFW Post 4376 Women’s Auxiliary in Seven Points, and even president in 1974-1975 and 1985-1986, among other elected positions. Her hard work paid off when she received recognition from the VA hospital naming her deputy representative for the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Naomi received many letters of recognition from VA hospital, Mayors, and even presidents to thank her for commitment to veterans. One of Naomi’s proudest accomplishments was being commissioned a Yellow Rose of Texas in 2010 that was signed by Rick Perry.
Some of Naomi’s favorite pastimes include, dancing, bingo, and hanging out at VFW post 4376. She was a socialite and would do anything to keep from staying home.
Naomi is preceded in death by husband, James Jones, parents, Carmen Rhodes and Elmer Tabor, son, Butch Jones, brothers and sister, Billy Don Tabor, Wanda Fennell, and Jerald Tabor.
Those left with cherished memories include her nephews, James “Bubba” Tabor and Jerry Tabor.
Naomi was always a caring person and dedicated in helping veterans with everything she could. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
