Patricia Lynn Justis

Patricia Lynn Justis, 58, of Mesquite, TX, was called home to heaven after a valiant fight with cancer in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 06, 2020, with her loving husband, Robert, and sisters, by her side.

Pat was born to Jacky Wilson and Laura Merriman in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Dallas. She attended Skyline High School. She was raised by her two sets of parents, Jacky and Daisy Wilson, and Laura and AJ Kennedy.

When Pat was 18, she met Robert, and they married on March 20, 1982. They had 2 children, Lynda Sue and Robert “Bud” Wayne Justis, raising them in Mesquite. Pat enjoyed being a wife and mother, but becoming a grandmother was the icing on the cake.

Pat’s outgoing and engaging personality was bigger than life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially when celebrating birthdays or holidays, her favorite being Easter. Her Easter parties were ones for history books. While she liked to have a good time, it was important to her that everyone around her was enjoying themselves, too. Her laughter was contagious, and her wonderful wit and mischievous grin kept friends and family on their toes. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies with her dad, Jacky, and daughter, Lynda, while she enjoyed watching horror films with her son, Bud. She had a love for junk food that included her favorites: snickers, Lay’s potato chips, and chocolate cake. Nothing compared for her relationship with sweet tea. She loved being outdoors whether she was gardening or sunbathing and enjoying watching her grandkids swim and play. She enjoyed her girls’ trips with her sisters and their movie and dinner dates. Besides the love for her family and friends, Pat had a love for animals which included her cats and dogs.

Those left to cherish Pat’s memory are her husband, Robert; her daughter, Lynda, of Mesquite; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Veronica, of Mesquite; grandchildren, Kyle, Yvette, Oscar, and Alec; sisters, Debbie and Kenneth Chandler, Mary and Wied Gay, Nita and Phillip Klassen, Tressia and Bryan Jarvis; brothers, Toney and Angie Martin, Richard and Kim Martin, William and Ivan Wilson; sister-in-law, Karen Walker Justis and husband, Jeff; brother-in-law, Mart Justis; “adopted” daughter, Jessica Gann and her children, Lucas and Laney; neighborhood momma to Felicia, Lisa, Jocelyn, Annalise, Ashley, and Peyton; and numerous other family and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Laura Kennedy; stepfather, AJ Kennedy; and stepmother, Daisy Wilson.

Services are being held at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday, February 14, 2020, from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 2pm with Pastor Tammy Chavez-Valdez officiating, followed by burial at Roselawn Cemetery. A reception for celebration of Pat’s life will be held at Rutherford Recreation Center in Mesquite, Texas, Saturday evening from 6pm to 8pm.
