Richard Lee Hume also known as our POP was born on August 5, 1954 in Grand Prairie, Texas and passed away on Friday December 18, 2020. He lived in the Dallas and Seagoville area his entire life. He married Judy Goodson Hume on December 23, 1971. He was a part of the Teamsters union for 10 years. He then went to work for Coca Cola for 32 years and retired from there in August of 2016.
He is proceeded in death by his grandparents Fred and Mamie Hill, parents Fred and Vivian Hume, Brother Clipper Hume, and a great niece Ashley Hume.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 49 years Judy Hume as well as 2 sons Ricky Hume and wife Missy and Jason Hume and wife Jackie, 2 granddaughters Hanna Cook and husband Ty, Hailee Hume and one great daughter Hadleigh Cook. He is also survived by brothers Bobby Hume and wife Glenda and Frankie Hume and wife Deborah and sister- in- law Bea Hume and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends that he loved dearly.
If you were lucky enough to know Richard you would know he was an honest hard working, able to fix anything kind of guy however you would also know underneath that tough exterior was a heart of gold. He was a friend that everyone wanted to have by their side. Back in the day he loved coaching his boys in little league football teams. He enjoyed taking motorcycle trips with Judy and more recently long camping get aways that usually included a little casino action. He also enjoyed going to the drag races with the boys. Pop had a lot of loves in his life including his 64 Chevy but his very special loves were Hanna and Hailee. Richards whole persona changed when 2 baby girls came into the picture. On any given day you would see Richard getting his nails painted by one of them or playing hide and seek in a girls tent. He never missed any of their dance recitals, sporting events, grand-parents days or anything in between. Some of Pops fondest memories were the summer camping trips with Hanna and Hailee at Beavers Bend. They stole his heart from day one and they were the light of his life. In January of this year his world got rocked again with his great granddaughter who he referred to as little bit.
If you ever needed a listening ear you could always count on Richard to be there. Although his time here was cut to short he lived a fun filled, adventurous life with little regret. He meant what he said and he said what he meant. And in the words of Pop “WHAT A RIDE”!
