Robert grew up in the Dallas area and attended Mesquite High School before earning his commercial driver's license. He began his career as a long-haul truck driver before entering the concrete industry, where he worked for Collins Concrete and, most recently, Advantage Ready Mix.
Outside of his career, Robert enjoyed motorcycles, movies—especially Westerns—and music. He loved both listening to music and playing the guitar and piano. In September 2018, Robert was born again and devoted his life to the Lord. He shared his musical talents through church ministry, first at Dallas County Cowboy Church, then at Terrell County Bible Church, and most recently at Breakaway Country Church in Crandall.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Bob” Sutherland; his grandfather, Earl Lankster; and his niece, Kaitlyn Smith.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Wanda Holder and her husband, Jack; his grandmother, Ruth Lankster; his sons, Duston Wayne Sutherland and wife Jessica, and Ryan Crawford; his grandchildren, Dawson and Kaitlyn Sutherland; his sister, Shelly Grant and her husband, David; his nephew, Connor Smith; and his loving partner, Deborah Chatham, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.
