Ronnie was born on August 15, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, to Bonnie Lawrence and Gaston Kirby. The Kirby family was close-knit, and Ronnie carried that deep sense of family throughout his life. As a teenager, he began working as a bricklayer for his uncle at Forum Masonry, where he developed a strong work ethic early on.
Ronnie would go on to meet the love of his life, Trena Reid, and the two were married on August 7, 1982, in Dallas. A few short years later, they welcomed their only child. Always determined to provide for his family, Ronnie bought a dump truck and launched his second career as a truck driver, hauling sand and gravel.
Outside of work, Ronnie had a passion for race cars—whether working on them or being around the track. He was a master of colorful commentary and never one to hold back an opinion. He could carry a conversation with anyone and truly enjoyed the simple joy of visiting with friends and family.
Ronnie is survived by his son, Randy Kirby and wife Amy Kirby; his mother, Bonnie McManamy; grandchildren Baylee Pritchett and son Wilder, Klinton Kirby and son Stetson, Krystin Kirby, and Cooper Kirby; his sister, Paula Kirby; his beloved aunt, Mary Lackey—whom he loved like a sister—as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Welcoming him on the other side are his father, Gaston Kirby; his brother, Gary Kirby, and wife Diana; and his cherished wife of 35 years, Trena Reid Kirby.
