Ronny Glenn Hammer, 60, passed away peacefully at his home on December 17, 2016. He was born on May 4, 1956 to JW and Glenda (Culver) Hammer in Athens, TX. Ronny was a longtime resident of Seagoville until eventually making his home in Combine, where the gate above the drive, “Hammertime”, clearly reveals Ronny’s love of life and family. He was always the life of the party and was known for his smoked brisket and BBQ skills. Ronny worked as a union iron worker in Dallas for seven years, but was better known for the pawnshop, Dash for Cash that he owned in Seagoville, along with the Golden Gun in Oak Cliff. He also worked the Trades Days in Canton for many years. Ronny’s favorite hobby was hunting and was very fortunate recently to be able to travel to his own property in the SE corner of Kansas for one last deer hunting season. A Christian by faith, Ronny was a wonderful son, husband, father, grandfather and brother and will forever be held in the hearts of those that loved him. His greatest pleasure in life was his family and his friends. Preceding him in death are his grandparents Arnett and Ruby Hammer and Nathan and Ollie Culver. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Denise Hammer; children Joscelyn Hammer, Justin Hammer, Jordan and Courtney Hammer; grandchildren: Katelyn Hammer, Kolton Self, Cameron Allen and Jordyn Hammer; parents: JW Hammer and Glenda Clayton; siblings: Cindy and Randy Goswick, Pam Tyler and Bryan Hammer and fiancée Tracey; and his beloved Golden Retriever, Tex; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly.
