Roy Richard Jenkins

Roy Richard Jenkins, a devoted husband, loving father, and master barber whose hands brought joy to both his craft and his musical instruments, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. He was 84.

Born on May 22, 1941, in Dallas, Richard was the son of Robert and Janie Jenkins.

Richard possessed a strong work ethic from a young age, beginning his career as a welder. He soon discovered his true calling, however, attending barber college and embarking on a lifelong career and passion for the art of barbering. It was a calling so essential to his life that it even brought him a daughter-in-law.

Richard’s life took its most meaningful turn when he met his sweetheart, Mona Frances Atchley. The two were married on December 31, 1959, ringing in the new decade of the 1960s as loving newlyweds. They shared nearly 66 remarkable years of marriage, a true testament to their enduring commitment and love.

Outside of his work and time spent with family, Richard had a great love for music. He was known for playing his guitar and harmonica and lending his voice and musical talents to worship at his churches, The Rock Church and Faith Assembly in Seagoville. Richard also had a fondness for classic cars, enjoying the process of buying, trading, and restoring old hotrods. A prized piece of his collection was his beautiful red and black 1929 Ford Model A.

Richard was greeted at Heaven's Gates by his parents, Robert Wesley Jenkins and Beatrice Janie Westbrook Jenkins; his brother, Danny Jenkins; and his grandson, Ryan Jenkins.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Mona Frances Jenkins; his sons, Roy Jenkins and wife Lova, and Rodney Jenkins and wife Amy; his grandchildren, Richie, Austen, Bryce, Madeline, Megan, Matthew, Justin, Emily, and Maddie; and his great-grandchildren, Devon, Corleigh, Waylon, Newton, Blake, London, and Kennedy. He is also survived by his siblings, Willard Jenkins and Belinda Shaner, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
