Ryle Edward Sexton
May 29, 1942 – March 6, 2018
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother Ryle Edward Sexton was called home to be with the Lord on 6th day of March, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Born in Kaufman County, Texas on May 29, 1942, Edward was the eldest of 10 children born to Walter and Venia Fay Sexton.
He married the love of his life, Dessie Fay Floyd, in 1961. A proud patriot, Edward joined the United States Marine Corps and was on a ship, blockading the island of Cuba in October of 1962 when Dessie was nine months pregnant. He returned to Camp Pendleton in California just in time for the birth of their daughter, Mechelle. Two years later, they added to the family with their son, Michael.
After his tour in the Marines, public service continued to be Edward’s calling as he became a Fireman for the City of Dallas, serving for 30 years at Station 19 and retiring as Second Driver in 1993. He was a brick mason, by trade, operating his business, R.E. Sexton Masonry, during his days off from the Fire Station. Additionally, Edward served as a City Councilman in Combine, Texas, was a member of the Seagoville Lions Club and had a profound knack for automobiles and a love of motor sports, driving dirt track racecars in younger years.
A member of the Seagoville Church of Christ, Edward’s faith in Jesus was matched only by his devotion to his family, in whom he could see the Lord at work every day, especially in the faces of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Paul, James and LeeRoy Sexton and sister, Vicky Mahan.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dessie; daughter, Mechelle Sexton-Bryson and husband, Tom Bryson; son, Michael Sexton; grandchildren Jesikah Sexton, Michael Sexton, Jr., Skyler Noonan and Taylor Bryson; great-grandchildren Corbin and Mason, Jayden and Landon and Jaxon; honorary granddaughter Emma Newhouse, and her parents Jeff and LeaAnne Newhouse; brothers Danny and Bobby Sexton, sisters Paulette Greer, Wanda Roberson and Patricia Warren; along with many nieces, nephews, Marines, Firefighters and family friends.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to the staff at Vitas Hospice in Carrollton for their compassionate, loving care these past few weeks.
Pallbearers will be Alan Goodson, Ricky Floyd, Buck Boren, Louis Rodriguez, Rusty Irby, Anthony Irby, Jason Greer and Kevin Shepherd.
The family requests memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Seagoville Church of Christ.

Mr. Sexton will be greatly missed by many. I have great memories of seeing him work on the job site. I always thought he was an impressive man. He and my father go way back and worked together to build many homes in and around the Combine area. I learned a lot on those job sites! I will miss seeing him around but thank God for the memories. May God Bless the Sexton Family.

My fond memories of all the wonderful times my late husband Ken Harrison and our children shared with Edward, Dessie and their children. Ken Harrison and Edward were in the fire department together and worked various jobs on their off hours. A true anchor and rock for his family and friends. He was a precious man and I know he is receiving his just rewards. His crown is heavy with jewels he has earned as he rests in the arms of the Lord. Have fun with your buddy Ken.
