Teresa Paulette Guthrie, 77, of Kemp, TX, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2021, in Mabank, TX, surrounded by her husband and children after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 4, 1943, in Dallas, TX, to Albert Perry and Margie Marie Ketron. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and prayer warrior to all who knew and loved her.
Teresa, fondly referred to as Teat, never met a stranger and giggled contagiously. With a heart full of joy and love for Jesus, she was a fierce prayer warrior and counselor to those in need. She gave generously and asked for nothing in return, always putting others before herself. She loved deeply, honestly, and unconditionally, accepting everyone just as they were, imperfections and all. She was profoundly rooted in her faith toward God and His son, Jesus Christ, and walked a path as a dedicated servant for those God put in her life.
Teresa is survived by husband, Rubert Guthrie; daughter, Teresa Kay Haney, granddaughter, Lindsey Poplin, her husband William, and their children Christopher and Emilee; son, Vester Lee Ganey, Jr., his wife Wendy, and children Kylee and her son Roxen, Kelcee, her husband Michael, and their son Knox, and Alek; son, Mark Earl Guthrie, his wife Terri, their sons Chance and Chad, grandchildren Savannah, Abel, and Axel; son, Steven Rubert Guthrie; sister, Darlene Minshew; brother, John Ketron, his wife Jackie; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by grandmother, Ruby K Thompson; grandfather, Paul M. Thompson; stepfather, Thomas B. Simons; mother, Margie Marie Simons; father, Albert Perry Ketron; sister, Nyoka Elaine Ruff; brother, Beverly Lee “Bud” Ketron and his son, Sam; granddaughter, Lisa Gail Welch; brother-in-law, Cecil Wayne Minshew; nephew, Edward Joe Ruff and his daughter Cecily; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Teresa’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Caring Hearts Hospice for their love, compassion and extraordinary care.
The visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Roselawn Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021, at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
