Thomas Franklin Davis Jr., (Tommy or Tom, to those who knew and loved him) passed away from this life on July 14, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Phyllis McLaughlin Davis, His daughter Erica Christine Davis Escobedo, his father Thomas Franklin Davis Sr., his mother Dorothy Ann Davis, his sisters Linda Youngblood, Kathryn (Kathy) Baham, brother Charles Michael Davis, brother-in-law Bruce McLaughlin, nephew Brian Patrick Polasek, and his best friend of over 30 years Steven (Steve) Whitehead.
He is survived by his sister Paula Davis, Sisters-in-law Janet Ingle, Patricia Martin, Janice McLaughlin, and brothers-in-law Thomas Ingle Sr, Jimmy Martin, Dennis McLaughlin, and Russell McLaughlin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Tommy was a former member of the United States Army where he served as a cook. His love of cooking carried on throughout his life and was something he thoroughly enjoyed doing. After leaving the Army he started driving trucks. There wasn’t a truck made that the man could not drive. He drove everything from Hazardous Materials to concrete trucks during his almost 50 years of being on the road. If you were ever lost, just call Tommy and let him know where you were, and he would have you turned around and back on the road in no time. His sense of direction and memory of landmarks was outstanding.
Anyone who knew Tommy knew that he had two great loves in his life, family and football. There was nothing more important to him than family, his wife and daughter were his world. His favorite hobby was indeed football. The Dallas Cowboys were HIS team. Anytime there was a game on, you can bet he was parked in front of the TV, sitting in his favorite jersey watching the game. He always said. “I sure hope that they have football in Heaven.”
His family would like to take this opportunity to thank Shaun Shorter and her wonderful team at Aristo Care Home for their wonderful care and support of Tommy in his final days. They would also like to thank Faith Presbyterian Hospice and Fore Front living for their care and support of Tommy, as well as all of the healthcare workers at Baylor Scott White, and UT Southwestern.
A graveside service for Thomas will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Roselawn Funeral Home, 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159.
