Tommie Carolyn Trantham, 81, passed away on June 6, 2017 in Rockwall, TX. She was born on December 11, 1935 to Tom and Vera Crump in Winnsboro, TX. Tommie was an extremely independent and vivacious lady. She was very social and always had a smile on her face, and of course she never met a stranger. Tommie worked at Mercantile for 10 years before continuing her career at H. Grady Spruce and W.W. Samuell High Schools. She then retired after many years of faithful service to spend more time on the dance floor. Her preferred form of exercise, also her passion, was country and western dancing and she went dancing at least four times per week up until this year. She was a member of the Baptist faith. Tommie, affectionately known as “Nana” by her grandchildren, loved spending time with her daughter and grandchildren and would visit them often in Virginia. Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Jon Trantham. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Robin Firestone and husband, Steve Dawson and son Jon Keith Trantham; grandchildren: Sara Firestone, Virginia Dawson and Michael Dawson; sister-in-law Billie Trantham; half-sisters Phyliss Childress and Charlene Wilson and a host of extended family members and friends that will miss her dearly. Family will receive visitors at 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville, TX. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Seagoville, TX, where she will be laid to rest in the Garden of Valley View. There will be a reception in the funeral home following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tommie’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
