Willie Mae Eskridge was born February 15, 1918 to Reverend Zollie Coffer and Vada Mae Hill in Alabama. She moved soon after to Dallas, Texas, where she lived for the majority of her life. She passed away on August 28, 2018, at the age of 100 years, in Houston, Texas.
She will be greeted in Heaven by her husband, Robert L. "Red" Eskridge", son, Robert L. Eskridge, Jr., daughter, Sherry Kellene Land, grandsons Reagan Lee and Robert Alan Eskridge, her parents and a host of brothers and sisters.
Survived by daughter, Kay Eskridge Thomas Brown of Houston and her husband, Bart Brown; sister, Pauline Taylor of Dallas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She and Red (she called him “Ned) owned and operated a Mobil station on the corner of St. Augustine and Highway 175 for many years. She was an active partner, taking care of the books and the banking, picking up parts and delivering hot meals twice a day to Red, all the while juggling kids, school schedules and a household. The station was closed shortly after Red passed away in 1972.
Home and family remained the focus of Willie's life and no one was more passionate about their mission. It was God and family in her eyes and, as time wore on, everything else had little use or meaning. She needed kids and her kids (and grandkids and great grandkids) needed her.
She said one hundred years "sure went fast". Our time with you did too.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
