Alexander (Alex) Samson Jacobs, age 67, of Prunedale, California passed away peacefully into the Everlasting arms of Jesus with his loving wife Rita and other family members by his side on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Alex was born May 23, 1954 in Salinas, California to his parents Paul and Enedina Nadine Jacobs.
A true California native; he grew up in Seaside, California and attended Noche Buena Elementary School, Fremont Junior High, Monterey High, Monterey Peninsula College and Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz.
Alex worked 30 years as a Correctional Officer at Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad, where he retired in 2012. Previous to working at the Prison, he was the proud owner of Jacobs's Well Cafe in Old Downtown Salinas where he enjoyed cooking breakfast and lunch for a lot of happy local customers. He had previously worked 10 years as a Manager for Golden West restaurants in Watsonville, Seaside and Salinas. After retirement, Alex really enjoyed going for rides to the beach, eating out with family and going to second hand shops and antique stores hunting for treasures.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves a big void in all of our hearts! We grieve, but not as though there is no hope, for we know that we will see him again!
Alex was preceded in death by his father, Paul Jacobs Sr. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rita Alicia Jacobs; his sons, Jonas James Jacobs and Caleb Ben Jacobs; his mother Enedina Nadine Jacobs; his brothers, Paul Jacobs Jr., Moses Jacobs, Donald Jacobs, and his brother Tom Saul Jacobs, his sisters, Pauline Jacobs Rosenthal (Robert), Patricia Jacobs Loa (Jose) and his youngest sister Carol Anne Jacobs-Nelson (Rick); grandson Jason Culpepper, granddaughter Caley Jacobs and grandson Andres Andrade, Sister in Laws, Bertha Martinez and Irene (Nene) Garcia (Ray), his Aunts, Annie Bazan, Frances Perez, Uncle, Alex Carrillo (Henrietta), Great Aunt, Gloria Castillo, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
A viewing and visitation for Alex will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Echoes From Calvary Church, 1025 Post Drive, Salinas, California 93907. A Celebration of his life will begin at 11:00 AM at Echoes From Calvary Church.
Alex will be laid to rest in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Prunedale, California 93907 Monday, October 18, 2021 at 1:30 PM.
