Andre Francis Jacobs was born at Community Hospital in Carmel, California to Susie Jacobs Banks and Alonzo Jacobs on October 22, 1985. Andre attended Ord Terrace Elementary School and Fitch Middle School. While attending Monterey High School during his Freshman year, Andre played football and received the “Tom & Hill Award,” and also played basketball and was named “3rd Highest Series.” During Andre’s Sophomore year, he played JV Football and was awarded “Best Hands.” Andre also played Varsity Basketball that year and the team made it through the 1st Round of Playoffs. Andre was awarded “Most Honorable Mention.”
During Andre’s Junior year, he played Varsity Football and was awarded “Defensive Player of the Week.” Andre also played Varsity Basketball and received “2nd Team All-League” and the team made the “2nd Round Playoffs.” Andre’s Senior year, he played Varsity Football and Varsity Basketball. He led his team to the playoffs in basketball, was Team Captain and awarded “2nd Team All- American.” Andre was highlighted in the Monterey Herald, with the headline reading, “Jacobs’ buzzer-beater lifts ‘Dores,” because Andre made a 3-point shot at the buzzer that allowed Monterey High to beat Fremont-Sunnyvale for the consolation championship of the Bob Steinbach Classic played at North Salinas High. That game, Andre finished with a game-high of 19 points!
Andre graduated from Monterey High in June, 2004. He attended Monterey Peninsula College where he played basketball for the Lobos.
The proudest day of Andre’s life was on February 12, 2012, when he and LaToya Shirley had their son, Dai’ Andre Jacobs of Douglasville, Georgia.
Andre started working with his father, Jake, on his truck with Paul Arpin Van Lines, and Andre also worked at Atlas Transfer & Storage Co Allied and United Van Lines/Cardinale Moving and Storage, Inc.
Andre leaves to mourn his loss, his mother, Susie Jacobs Banks (Robert); father, Alonzo Jacobs; siblings, Macy Sharper (Macy), Edward Brinson (Allison), Christopher Brinson, Jessie Brinson, Elizabeth Jacobs and Nicolette White (Aaron); his grandmother, Yvette Banks; God Parents, John and Aline Savage; aunts and uncles, David Banks (Michele), Nancy Banks (James), Linda Banks, Carol Mims (Donald), Francis Banks (Donna), Eddie Brinson (Kimberly), Alfred Brinson (Joanne), Glendora Green, Audrey Jacobs (Lester), Robert Jacobs (Brumadel) Charles Jacobs (Cindy), Maceo Jacobs (Janet); nieces and nephews, London Sharper, Peyton Brinson, Xavier Kimbrough, Marcus Kimbrough, Edward Brinson, Christopher Brinson, Ladanion Brinson, Shayaan Ali, Anthony Brinson and Kaiden White; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert M. Banks and his paternal grandparents, Charles and Macy Jacobs.
