Anna M. Dockery was born in Memphis, Tennessee June 1, 1931 and entered heaven's gates while in Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, November 12, 2019. Anna joined Riverside Missionary Baptist Church (Memphis, TN) at an early age, dedicating her life to the Lord. Anna obtained her education in the Shelby County School System (Memphis, TN) graduating from Geeter High School.
A devoted, loving and supportive wife, mother and homemaker, Anna always put her family first. In addition, she was a remarkable cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family, friends and her family's friends, especially for the holidays. For many years leading up to her entering heaven's gates, she baked and shipped so many cakes to family members and their friends the FED EX person began referring to her as "the cake lady". She also loved traveling as a military family in addition to serving as a Red Cross Volunteer for over twenty years and as president of the NCO Wives' Club at one time. Anna also loved to sew, shop, dress up and wear her broaches.
Anna was predeceased by her loving husband of sixty years, Benjamin F. Dockery, III (Command Sergeant Major, US Army-Retired). To this union three sons and three daughters were born: Julius (deceased), Keith (Atlanta, GA), Benjamin, IV (Seaside, CA), Wanda (Henrico, VA), Alva (Seaside, CA), and Elfreda (Chicago, IL). Also left to cherish her memory are two siblings: Earnestine Nelms (Memphis, TN) and Mack Nelms, Jr. and wife (Carson, CA).
Miss Anna is also survived by four grandchildren, Todd (Seattle, WA), Stephanie (Brooklyn, NY), Tony, Jr. (Phoenix, AZ), Julius, Jr. (Memphis, TN) and Alexander (deceased), three great -grand children, fourteen nieces and nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews and a plethora of extended
