Charlie Lee Carr Jr., was born October 4, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The family moved to Seaside, California in 1954.

Charlie affectionately known as ( Butch) accepted Christ at an early age where he joined Ocean View Baptist Church, under the leadership of his late Uncle Rev. G.E. Ellis. He later moved to San Jose, California with his late sister Brenda Carr and late brother Darryl (Poochie) Carr. Charlie joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Redwood City, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Fred Campbell.

Charlie moved back to Seaside and reunited with Ocean View Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ervin C. Wilson. Charlie was an active member of the Sunday school, under the leadership if Rev. Kenneth Murray. Charlie was called to the ministry, where he was studying to join the Seminary later this year. Charlie has many friends who would describe him as a "best friend", kind-hearted, loving and caring always smiling and sharing his love for the Lord.

Charlie attended the local schools in Seaside where he graduated in 1969. Charlie enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1969 and served three years. He was promoted to Sergeant and was stationed in Camp Pendleton, Ca. and Okinawa, Japan. Charlie received a Good Conduct Medal in 1969 and an Expert Rifle Medal and Honorable Discharge in 1972.

In 1995 - 1996, Charlie founded The Black Men In Recovery Program and I HELP Program which served the homeless.

Charlie leaves to celebrate his life, his mother Christine L. Ellis-Terry, his sister, Vickie L. Ellis, both of Seaside, Ca., his sister-n-law Glenda Carr of Granada Hills, Ca., two aunts, Velma J Brown and Donna Mosley of San Jose, his niece Jasmine Carr of Texas, nephew Terrell Barksdale of Phoenix, Az. and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charlie will be missed.
