Epsie J Hunter, was born to Samuel Jimmerson and Mabel Goldstein on July 2, 1935, in Alexandria, LA. Epsie was the oldest of four children. Epsie and her siblings were raised by their grandmother Louisa Thomas, (Ms. Mary). Epsie grew up in Alexandria and graduated from Peabody High School.
As a young woman, Epsie worked at a local diner. It was at this diner that she met Frank Hunter Jr, with whom she would share 45 years of marriage.
Together they had five children. Jacqualine, Ronald, Glenda, Consuelo, and Chandra. As a military family they traveled to many different places both stateside and abroad, finally making the permanent residence in Seaside, Ca.
It would be here that Frank and Epsie hunter would align themselves with Community Missionary Baptist Church both serving in various ministries. Epsie served faithfully in the Women’s Mission and Prayer Band Circle, I-Help Program, Thanksgiving Outreach, and was the Financial Secretary for many years. Epsie loved her church, and remained an active member until she could no longer attend services.
She is preceded in death by her husband (Frank Hunter Jr, Her daughters Chandra, Connie, and Glenda,(Hunter), her mother Mabel (Goldstein), and Sister Betty (Jimmerson).
She is survived by her daughter Jacqualine Bickley and son Ronald Hunter (Claudia Hunter) to also include Markese Hunter whom she raised, a host of other of grand, great, and great great grandchildren, extended family and many many friends.
A Celebration of Life will occur Friday, June 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Community Missionary Baptist Church, 401 Pine Ave, Pacific Grove, CA 93950. A graveside service will occur Friday, June 14, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Mission Memorial Park, 1915 Ord Grove Ave, Seaside, CA 93955.
