PRUNEDALE – Evelyn M. Ceccolini, age 88, passed away on March 8, 2012, in Santa Cruz. She was born in Branford, CT to the late Nunizo and Anna Martone. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Ceccolini. Following his death she moved to Monterey, CA to live with her daughter Judy DiGirolamo and son-in-law Phil DiGirolamo.
Evelyn was lovingly known as “Granma” to the many employees and customers at Phil’s Fish Market & Eatery in Moss Landing. She was a fixture at her table in the restaurant folding napkins and entertaining everyone with her stories. During WWII she worked in an ammunition plant and was out of a job on D-Day. Later she worked for 20 years at her sister-in-law’s bakery, Hilltop Orchards in Branford.
Evelyn is also survived by her grandchildren, John DiGirolamo of Pacific Grove and Maria (Sissi) DiGirolamo of Nicosia, Cyprus, and six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Evelyn was a member of the Italian-American club in Branford for many years before moving to California. She started her family’s love of Scottish terriers, buying the first one in early 1960s.
Vigil service will be held Monday, March 12, 2012, 7:00PM and friends may pay respects from 5:00 until 8:00PM at Bayside Community Mortuary, 1610 Noche Buena St., Seaside. Funeral Mass and burial will be in Branford, CT.
