Isaiah Joseph Vigoreaux, 15, a resident of rural Monterey County, California passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2021. Born September 22, 2006 at Sutter Birth Center in Santa Cruz, California, Isaiah grew up in Monterey County and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Isaiah was a straight–A honor roll student and was currently enrolled at Monterey High School. His studies included years of Tang Soo Do, earning a blue belt at Bodyworx Martial Arts in Monterey. Wrestling, bicycling, skating, and working out at the gym were favorite athletic activities.
Having many creative talents, Isaiah liked to challenge himself in diverse activities, ranging from building various contraptions to fashioning ceramic art pieces to culinary experimentation, concocting delicious flavors in the kitchen. He built up a collection of the hottest sauces too, and he boldly devoured the hottest of peppers.
He was occasionally a bit of a prankster at home, resulting in such surprises as cabinets sealed shut, harmless booby traps, or peeling a banana to find its fruit an extraordinary color, because he’d cleverly inserted food coloring. He also had a fearless streak and would sometimes defy fear by watching horror flicks.
With a soft spot for animals, Isaiah especially loved his cat, Peter, and faithfully cared for his pet. He even took on his beloved cat’s name as a nickname for himself.
Isaiah was a vibrant person, dyeing his hair different colors and often wearing colorful clothes, with a favorite color being red.
Isaiah was loving and respectful to his family. He was a good listener and appreciated time with friends. He wasn’t one to pretend; when he smiled at someone, it was genuine.
An independent thinker, Isaiah regularly engaged in deep, layered thought. He was wise beyond his years. Those who knew him best referred to him as an old soul. He had voiced that he was unafraid to die.
Isaiah’s early passing is mourned by his loving parents, father, Julio Vigoreaux Jr., and mother, Alicia Bautista; infant brother, Elias Lazarus; grandfather, Robert Bautista; grandmothers, Maura Beltran and Cynthia Platter; great-grandmother Joanne Platter; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins, as well as many friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Santa Rosalia Chapel at San Carlos Cemetery, 792 Fremont Street, Monterey, with burial following at San Carlos Cemetery.
