Ivory moved with her mother and brother to Seaside, CA, in 1950, where Ivory received her schooling in Monterey County. The family joined Ocean View MBC under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. G.E. Ellis. After completing schooling at Seaside High School, Ivory met Anthony Gallow and from that union they had a son Rev. Christopher Angelo Jones. Unable to find work in the Monterey/Seaside community, Ivory found a job at the Oakland Army Base. She and her son moved to Berkeley, CA., where they became members at The Triumph Church of God in Christ. Ivory left her position at the Army Base and became a supply clerk for the Naval Air Station, where she worked for many years. During this time, she began taking computer classes and later took a job at Herrick Hospital in Berkeley, CA as a data entry operator; she worked there until relocating to Modesto, CA. After moving to Modesto, she joined The Second Baptist Church and later along with 14 other members became founding members of Christ Unity MBC serving under Rev. N. Green. Ivory later worked at the IRS in Fresno, CA., for many years, she returned to Seaside CA. to be with her mother after the sudden passing of her stepfather. Upon her return she went to work for Monterey Peninsula College where she eventually retired from. Ivory relocated to Las Vegas to help take care of her son Christopher after he became ill. She joined his church The Victory MBC where she served in the Youth Department. Ivory loved working with young people, and she had a passion for missionary work. She spent the latter part of her life caring for her son Christopher. She did that with all the love and care she had up until her sudden passing.
Ivory was preceded in death by her father C. G. Porter, one brother Edward Lee Jones, a sister Brenda Porter, two stepbrothers Anthony Smith and Andrew Isadore, stepmother, Dorothy Porter and stepfather, Easton J. Isadore Sr.
Ivory L. Jones leaves to mourn her passing her Mother Elnora V. Jones-Isadore, son Rev. Christopher Angelo Jones-Willis (Johnny R. Willis), two sisters Paula Porter- McCully (Jonathan), Charline Victorian and one brother Larry Porter, three step sisters Evon Terry (Kenneth), Patrica Isadore, Carol Jinkens and a stepbrother Easton J. Isadore Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews and family and friends.
