August 10, 1974 – June 19, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Captain Kevin Mitchell Casas, U.S. Army, a beloved husband, devoted father, decorated Army officer and paratrooper, loyal brother, and cherished friend to many. Kevin passed away on June 19, 2025, surrounded by love at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, California.
Born on August 10, 1974, to Al and Julie Casas—who preceded him in death—Kevin was raised in a home grounded in faith, hard work, loyalty, and love. These values shaped his remarkable character and became the foundation for a life defined by service, strength, and selflessness.
Kevin answered the call to serve his country with pride, commissioning into the United States Army, where he rose to the rank of Captain. He served with distinction as a paratrooper in the 108th Airborne Division, demonstrating extraordinary courage, discipline, and leadership. His military service was not just a duty—it was a reflection of his unwavering commitment to protecting others and upholding the values he lived by.
While deeply proud of his military service, Kevin’s greatest legacy was the love he gave to those around him. He was a devoted and loving husband to Cathy Casas, his partner in every sense of the word. Together, they created a life rooted in unwavering support, mutual respect, and deep affection. Their bond was rare—built not only on shared years, but on shared strength, laughter, and unconditional love.
Kevin was the proud father of five sons: Aaron, Aiden, Adam, Andrew, and Nick. He was a father in every sense—present, protective, patient, and wise. He taught his sons to be kind, to be brave, to stand up for what’s right, and to always lead with love. His greatest joy was watching them grow into the men he raised them to be. In them, his spirit and strength live on.
He is also survived by his loving sister, Darlene Segarini (Steve), with whom he shared a lifelong bond rooted in love, loyalty, and laughter. Kevin was a cherished family member to many and is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family—all of whom were touched by his gentle spirit and generous heart.
Kevin was a man of quiet strength. He didn’t need the spotlight to leave an impression—his calm presence, quick wit, steady support, and unwavering integrity spoke volumes. He had the rare gift of making others feel safe and seen, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
Though we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the love he gave so freely. Captain Kevin Mitchell Casas, U.S. Army, leaves behind a legacy of honor, kindness, and love—a legacy that will continue to inspire and guide us for generations.
Rest easy, Kevin.
You lived with honor, loved with your whole heart, and left this world better than you found it.
You will forever be remembered and missed.
