

on Friday, May 1. He was born in San Juan,
Puerto Rico and served 28 years in the U.S.
Army. A long-time resident of Seaside, over
the years, Manny enjoyed fishing, fixing
classic cars, landscaping and for 30-plus
years, tending bar at the local establishment,
The Shadow Box. He often referred to
himself as the "Jack of all trades, master of
some". To him, no job was too small.
Manny was a friend to many and will be dearly
missed by his family. He is survived by
his wife of 49 years, Chun Cha Torres;
daughters, Alyssa Torres and Judy Sager;
son-in-law, Tom Sager; grandchildren, Valerie,
Stephanie and Tommie; great-granddaughters,
Kylee and Jaelynn; 5 remaining siblings; and
his devoted dog, Tito. Services will be held
at Bayside Community Mortuary
(1610 Noche Buena St., Seaside) on
Friday, May 8: viewing at 2 p.m. and prayer
service at 4 p.m. followed by a military
service. Since Manny would want
celebrating, not tears, a celebration of his life
will take place later, so please join us on
Saturday afternoon, May 30 at The Shadow
Box (1904 Fremont St., Seaside).
